The lodge's story

A lodge born from a family story

It all began with a catamaran cruise. Sailing along its shores, Annie & Jean-Daniel, the grandparents of Martin, now the hotel's general manager, discovered Nosy Komba.

And they fell in love: first with the island, then with the people who call it home.

That bond gave rise to a charity. Through it, a school opened its doors, running water reached the village of Antamotamo and a health clinic was built in Ampangorina.

An estate for the family

Those ties led them to a plot of land by the sea, where they imagined an estate to bring their whole family together.

Opening to travellers

In 2019, a new idea came to them: to open this place to travellers. It was Martin, their grandson, who brought the project to life: under his leadership, the estate grew to welcome its first guests, and Manja Kely Lodge opened its doors in August 2025.

Eight bungalows for eight grandchildren: each one bears the name of one of them.

Today

The bond with the island has never faded. The lodge works hand in hand with the school in Antamotamo, where French lessons are offered to the pupils, and every stay is a chance to bring school supplies to the children.

Staying here means becoming part of this story too.
